After you place your order, we’ll contact you with simple instructions for sharing your pet’s photos and any details you’d like us to know. You don’t need to choose the perfect image on your own—we’ll review your photos and select the ones that best show your pet’s expression, coloring, and unique markings. Clear photos taken in natural light are especially helpful.
Shaping the Wool Foundation
We begin each portrait by carefully shaping layers of wool into a firm foundation inspired by your pet’s natural features. This initial form helps us establish the proportions, expression, and overall silhouette before adding the finer details that bring the portrait to life.
Painting the Eyes by Hand
The eyes are often the most expressive part of a pet portrait. Each pair is individually painted by hand, with careful attention to color, highlights, and the direction of your pet’s gaze. These subtle details help preserve the familiar expression and personality you know so well.
Sculpting the Nose in Clay
Each nose is shaped and colored by hand using high-quality clay, with close attention to the form, tone, and small surface details seen in your reference photos. This carefully finished feature gives the portrait greater depth and a wonderfully natural character.
Creating the Mouth and Expression
Your pet’s mouth and expression reveal so much of their character. From a softly closed mouth to a joyful smile, we carefully shape details such as the tongue and teeth from clay when the design requires them. Each feature is guided by your photos to preserve the expression that feels most familiar to you.
Building the Coat, Fiber by Fiber
To recreate the character of your pet’s coat, we blend carefully selected wool fibers according to the colors, markings, and subtle tonal changes visible in your photos. The fibers are applied by hand in fine layers, building softness, direction, and natural depth that reflect the way your pet’s fur grows.
Optional Add-On: Poseable Paws
Paws can be added as an optional upgrade to give your portrait even more character. Each paw is shaped by hand around a concealed wire support, allowing it to be gently positioned in a relaxed, playful, or keepsake-holding pose. Simply share your preferred pose and any special details when placing your order.
Final Preview and Your Approval
Before shipping, we’ll send you clear photos of the finished portrait for review. If there are any small details you would like us to refine, you can share your feedback at this stage. Once the final adjustments are completed and you have approved the portrait, we’ll carefully package it for delivery.
